Omar presented ‘I Still Arrive’ at the Fresh Tracks choreography showcase at New York’s Dance Theater Workshop in 1999. He worked with world musicians (Habiba Noor on tabla, Tristra Newyear a Bosnian/Georgian vocalist, Elya Tempkin on acoustic guitar) on developing an original score. Omar also designed the set that consisted of light sculptures fashioned from cardboard cartons. Tanya Bezreh designed costumes featuring masking tape, mirrors and white cotton pants. Omar choreographed and performed in the trio dance with Leigh Garret and Shaneca Adams. Jennifer Dunning of the New York Times described Omar’s dancing as “delicately alert” and Elizabeth Zimmer of the Village Voice appreciated the “wonderful live music.”
