Return to Pakistan
Omar retired from Susan Marshall and Company in 2000 having realized that his work in the future would need to respond to his mother culture. Omar presented work at lecture-demonstrations at schools including Kinnaird College in Lahore, performed at fundraisers for the Citizens Foundation, an non-profit dedicated to building schools all over Pakistan, and on Pakistan Television. Omar also worked with TRC, the teachers Resource Center, a non-profit educational agency that promotes teacher education in Pakistan, to direct a multimedia theatrical work about drought and water management. The cast of the piece consisted of students from elementary and secondary schools from all echelons of Karachi society -- including government and district public schools as well as elite private schools.
